<<– This is me! :)
I’ve had an interest in Tarot for many years now. I bought my first Tarot deck back in 1976 or thereabouts on a market stall at the Quayside in Newcastle upon Tyne. I no longer have that deck though. I don’t have a clue what happened to it. The deck was the Swiss 1JJ and I found the images exciting, even though it was all new to me and I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. So, sitting there with the LWB in my hand, I started to read for myself, and was shocked at how accurate they were.
Moving on a few years to 1995, I moved to place called Todmorden on the border of West Yorkshire and Lancashire. There was a “weird” shop, as the locals called it. The shop was called Futhark, and they sold all kinds of herbs, magick books, candles, and in the back of the shop they had a small room that housed Tarot decks. And so started my collection. I became hungry for more decks, and found more shops in Manchester that sold similar things.
My collection of Tarot decks just grew and grew. I made some mistakes along the way though, buying decks just because I liked the box they came in. I still have those decks and I never even use them. I could maybe sell them on eBay, but I feel reluctant to part with them for some reason. Perhaps it’s the hoarder in me?
Things really started to take off after I split from my partner at the time. I met someone else, and moved in with him temporarily in Huddersfield until I found a place of my own. I read his cards from time to time, and then he started taking me to places to read for his family and work colleagues. They all liked their readings and commented on how uncannily accurate they were. I continued reading for people down there until I moved back home to Newcastle.
I’d “met” someone while I lived in Huddersfield. Actually, it was the friend of a friend I went to college with. She used to ring me for phone readings when I was in Huddersfield, and we finally met when I came back to Newcastle. Jill became a good friend of mine, and I used to read for her more than anyone else. lol
A few years later, I started a website called Spiritual Tarot, and started to meet like-minded people, some of whom are friends to this day. With their encouragement, I started reading online in my forum. It was around this time that I discovered Aeclectic Tarot, and things really took off for me. My hunger for new decks resurfaced and I started buying more and more decks. I do have quite a few decks in my collection and I keep adding to it from time to time, when finances allow.
Nowadays, I tend to do more email readings than anything else. I’d like to do more face to face readings, but I find it quite difficult in the area I live in to find people to read for. I’m currently considering doing Skype readings. This is a whole new territory for me and I don’t even know if it will work. I am a shy person really. I’m ok face to face and online though. :)
My main reading decks now, are the Norse Tarot, Original Mythic Tarot, Druid Craft, Morgan Greer and I’m just getting to grips with The Wildwood Tarot. Among the Oracle decks are The Druid Animal Oracle, Angels of Atlantis, Fallen Angels, and I’m waiting for the Faeries Oracle to arrive in the post any day now. I also use a Pendulum and a Crystal Ball from time to time.
So there you go. That’s me in a nutshell. I hope I haven’t bored you to tears with my mini life story. I can be found on Facebook on my Profile Page, as well as my Facebook Tarot Page. I’m also on Twitter. I am also a member of TABI (Tarot Association of the British Isles). I hope to see you around. :)
